Saturday, January 25, 2020 saw a fierce showdown between the female players, as they participated in the BATTLE OF THE LIONESS FEMALE DOUBLES TOURNAMENT, hosted at Mystix Sports Lounge on Hagley Park Road, Kingston. The ladies were all ready to sharpen their claws on each other, in order to win the title, trophies and cash prizes.

The teams were all required to wear matching jerseys, which were sponsored, and come up with creative names for their teams. With names ranging from VX Strikers to Queen Bees, there was quite a variety of names that were all telling of the types of players on each team. Without a doubt, the ladies were ready for this competition, and as such there were many upsetters and unexpected scorelines throughout the tournament.

By the end of the night, the teams that were remaining - Asesinas and Royal Shooters - were both very strong teams and they both showed no signs of backing down. With the match reaching hill-hill for both teams, the final game was certainly a nail-baiting finish, to what was an exciting female doubles tournament. In the end, after the dust settled, it was the Royal Shooters who claimed the title and prizes, and Asesinas took 2nd place. The Charms nabbed 3rd place while Fearless 2 snagged 4th place.

The level of competition was high and extremely intense, one match after another, leaving the spectators on the edge of their seats. The ladies were all on form! Currently, the female division of pool players is growing steadily and quickly, with approximately 20 active females participating in everything from weekly tourneys, to one-on-one races, to major open tournaments. It's certainly a good look for the sport and definitely, a step in the right direction for the females.
